In order to gather children’s understanding of the importance of diversity, they were invited to write a simple paragraph or poem about the concept. In small groups, they worked alongside their peers to complete their write up.
Thereafter, the K2 children were encouraged to read their works in front of their peers. Some of them wrote, “Diversity is important because if there’s no diversity, the world will not be a better place. Diversity is important because if we don’t have diversity, the world will be in trouble.”
Through this learning experience, the children were able to display a deeper understanding of the importance of respecting differences amongst people.
