After reading the story “Becky and the Great Outdoors,” the children learned the importance of caring for others in addition to taking care of themselves. Becky Bunny’s experience, where she urgently needed help to retrieve her kayak, taught them that we should assist others whenever we see or hear someone in need, regardless of their age.
The children reflected and understood that when we show care for others, they are more likely to help us when we are in need too. They also shared their personal experiences showing care to their immediate and extended families. Here are some of the activities that they participated after the story-reading.
When asked who else we can care for beyond our family and friends, the children responded enthusiastically, “We can also show care and concern for our community!”
