This year, PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Sembawang West Block 755 focused on the theme “Caring for the Environment” for our SSDB (Start Small Dream Big) project, with a special focus on recycling, marine life, and ocean pollution.
Our journey began on 21 March 2024, when the N2 to K2 children embarked on an exciting field trip to the SEA Aquarium. The children learned about the beauty and importance of marine life and the dangers that pollution poses to our oceans. This hands-on learning sparked curiosity and a desire to protect the environment.
Continuing this effort, our K1 children participated in a Beach Clean-Up at Sembawang Beach Park on 28 August 2024. They worked together to clean the shore, learning about the direct impact of pollution on our beaches and marine habitats. The children and some parents were actively involved, picking up litter and making a difference—one small action at a time!
To make this effort even more meaningful for the entire preschool community, since April 2024, we’ve been encouraging children and parents to practice the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The children helped create recycling bins, which are placed in the centre, and we invited families to bring recyclable items from home to contribute. This initiative has helped build environmental awareness and responsibility within the preschool community.
Together, we are committed to protecting the environment and teaching our little ones that they can be champions for change! ✨
