In line with the ‘Start Small Dream Big’ project, our centre organised a ‘Spreading love’ donation drive cum visit to the Lions Home for the Elders to inculcate good values in our children and teach them to give back to the society.
Our K1 and K2 children visited the Lions Home for the Elders on 26th July 2018. They brought goodies bags and also food and grocery items donated by our supportive parents for the residents.
Prior to the visit, teachers prepared and prompted the children about the visit, such as taking responsibility, as well as caring and showing respect to the residents. Teachers also introduced the book ‘A little Something’ by Susan V. Bosak, which touches on love and legacies across generations, to our little ones.
During the visit, the residents and children did various activities together, such as making flowers with recycle plastic bags and playing bingo games. Our children also performed a few dance items for them. Not only did the visit brighten the day of the residents, it was also a valuable experience for both our children and teachers.
A beautiful relationship between generations was created and we hope to keep this special bond through future visits, as we believe that ongoing visits are effective for better understanding and trust, which are essential for real connections between people of any age.
