Going Virtual: An Exciting Auction for All
This year our school embarked on an exciting journey, SSDB! This is our first year joining the “Start Small Dream Big”. Our SSDB theme is Caring for Our Community, Upcycling and Appreciating our Unsung Heroes. This year we focus on appreciating our Bus captains as essential workers during this pandemic. The children decided to show their gratitude to the bus captains by giving them care packs they could use daily.
To raise funds, our school held an Auction Event and 3-Day Fundraising Booth last 8 May and 1 to 3 June 2021. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the new realities of social distancing, our parents and children proved that Fundraising does not stop during this uncertain time. Instead, they looked at challenges with excitement and anticipation.
Both activities were done through the Zoom platform; our parents joined the event with so much gusto. Our K1 and K2 children spearheaded the event. They were so delighted to take part as the auctioneers and presenters. They worked hard to engage and entice our parents as they walked through the different items. You would see our K1 children dancing and making cute and funny poses to ensure that the parents bring home the items! The items sold in both activities were uniquely designed and made by our children from PG to K2 class.
Our parents made the event intense and thrilling; they were really up to the challenge of bidding and buying. They indeed showed their support as they bought the items generously. The event was a success because of the unwavering support of our parents and children. We were able to raise more than our targeted fund! With the funds that we raised, we hope that we will touch lives and give happiness to the Bus Captains as our beneficiaries for this project.
