The children have been learning about the importance of recycling for the past few months, so this month we decided to let the children explore how to recycle a carton box into something usable in the class. During the outdoor time, we brought the children out to the void deck to collect unwanted carton boxes. Once we came back to the centre, the children discussed and decided to create a rocket out of the carton box as they wanted to use it for role-playing. The children helped to draw the windows and door for the rocket and they also helped to paint on it. The children also thought of using the leftover paper plates to create the planets to decorate it on the rocket. The children were all eager and excited to role-play with the rocket. Through this activity, the children learnt that recyclable material can be recycled into something useful!
