As part of our “Start Small Dream Big” project with the theme “Voices of Care, Hearts in Action,” we began by focusing on caring for those around us. The children learned about the importance of showing appreciation to the people closest to them, including their teachers, who spend each day with them at school.
Teachers play a crucial role as carers in children’s lives by providing emotional support and helping them feel safe and valued in the classroom. Through consistent care and understanding, they build trust, which is essential for effective learning. By recognizing and nurturing each child’s unique strengths and challenges, teachers encourage overall development.
In alignment with the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) initiative, we asked the children to design and write notes of appreciation for their teachers on thank-you cards distributed by ECDA. These cards invited parents to fill in heartfelt appreciation notes for the teachers as well. Little Atlas Preschool received an overwhelming response filled with love and gratitude from both children and parents.
Some of these cards are being featured on the Beanstalk ECDA Facebook page, showcasing the children’s efforts in expressing their appreciation. They used stickers to decorate the cards and wrote meaningful messages for their teachers, with some even drawing their favourite pictures on the cards.
Through this activity, our teachers felt deeply appreciated by the children and parents, affirming that their hard work is recognized and valued. The small gestures of gratitude made a significant impact, making the teachers feel that their efforts were worthwhile.
We hope the children continue to spread love and gratitude to others, understanding that even small gestures, like saying thank you, can bring joy and warmth to their loved ones and strengthen their relationships. These small gestures also contribute to the teachers’ well-being, which in turn benefits the children. By fostering a culture of appreciation, we aim to inspire the children to create a positive and caring community around them.
