Why is it important to teach children to practice hand washing? Sneezing, coughing, wheezing and blowing can happened to anyone and everywhere. Once the children come contact with germs, they can be infected by just touching their eyes, nose, and mouth. One of the most effective way to prevent children from falling sick and other people sick is to teach children the effective ways of hand washing.
The K1 and K2 children came into a class discussion on when should they wash their hand, and what are the steps for a proper hand washing? The children came up with 5 steps of proper hand washing and made it into a poster to act as a reminder for the class.
The 5 steps of effective hand washing are:
Step 1 : Wash your hand with warm water.
Step 2: Lather your hand with soap.
Step 3: Scrub your hand for 20 seconds. Remember to clean your palms, the back of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
Step 4: Rinse your hand with clean and running water.
Step 5: Rinse and dry your hand with clean towel.
Practicing good hand washing not only limits to children but also adults and caregivers. With the prior knowledge of hand washing, the K1 and K2 children worked with their parents to demonstrate the proper hand washing in the videos.
