This year we reached out to the Boys’ Town residential services to work on our SSDB project. We understood that the 48 boys were in need school supplies such as school bags and stationery. So we invited the Boys’ Town public outreach team for our Mothers’ Party to share on their services. We also took the opportunity to inform our parents about our project and intention to raise funds to buy school supplies for the boys.
The following week, our parents and families gave us their support through donations, which we utilized to purchase for each boy:
-
A school bag
-
4 pens (2 blue, 1 black & 1 green)
-
A ruler
-
A pencil case
-
A correction tape
-
A highlighter
-
A water bottle
We also bought refillers for the correction tape, which we passed to the officers for further distribution when the boys need it.
And we also bought for them a 3kg cake and Vitagen for their tea-break & other snacks such as cereal, biscuits etc.
Our children took part in the project by learning about the circumstances (eg. physical abuse) which led the boys to the Boys’ Town residential services, and reached out to them by creating cards with motivational quotes for each boy. They also assisted in packing the stationery and delivered them to the home.
A good deed which has filled our hearts with content & fulfillment….
