Objectives:
To create sustainable living for our families and community by making paper bags from newspaper.
Brainstorming process:
Champs started out with making Earth Day costumes using recycled materials. Champs commented, “I can recycle newspaper, toilet roll, office paper, cardboards…” and “I want to recycle so that I can save the rabbits…save the trees…save our Planet Earth.”
Earth Day celebration: 22 April 2022Hence, we started our SSDB project to reduce the use of plastic bags by switching to alternatives like paper bags, which we will make from newspaper and used magazines.
Engaging the Family - Collecting Newspaper and Paper-bag Making
In June, Champs began collecting newspaper and old magazines donated by families. We used the recycled newspaper to amke paper bags, both in school and at home.

Champs tested the efficacy of the newspaper bags in school. They manage to carry a variety of books, stationery, dried food and even a fire extinguisher!
