PCF Sparkletots Preschool Blk 662B has embarked on Start Small Dream Big Project with ‘A Pet is for Life’ as the theme for this year. The project was done in collaboration with the Save Our Shelter Dogs, Singapore (SOSD) and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Singapore (SPCA). The aim for this project is to promote the message of being a responsible and considerate pet owner.
We decided to kick off the project with a launch party. Parents were invited to participate in the bonding session with their child to decorate the pledge cards and making toys for cats and dogs.
Prior to the session, the parents donated long socks and tennis balls for the event. For ‘dog toy’, parents and children worked together to stuff the tennis balls into the socks, braid the ends and tied knots to complete the toy. For ‘cat toy’, parents and children worked together to create holes on the toilet rolls and use cotton buds to pass through the holes.
The completed toys were to be delivered to SPCA for the abandoned pets living in the shelter. This bonding session helped to spread awareness of abandoned pets to parents and children. It also allowed the children to recognised that even though they are small, they are still able to make a contribution.
