We began our ‘Little Green Fingers’ SSDB Project by visiting Gardens By the Bay. From there, children learnt about different types of edible plants.
Back to the centre, in April, children planted the vegetable seeds that they have brought. We are glad that parents contributed soil and different type of seeds which include spinach, choy sum and carrots.
Children also brought recyclable materials such as plastic containers and egg cartons to plant their seeds.
They took turn to care for the plants. They watered the plants daily and ensure that the plants have enough sunlight.
We wrapped up our SSDB project by getting K1 parents to contribute green vegetables. We presented the cooked vegetables to the elderly at the PCF Sparklecare nearby, specially cooked in the centre by our aunty. As Singapore’s National Day is coming nearer, our children also performed National Day songs and dance. The elderly joined the singing session, tapping and shaking with the straw shakers that the children have made for them.
