Our centre focuses on the intergenerational aspect for our SSDB project. We strongly encourage our children to show care and appreciation for the seniors within their family and in the community too.
Firstly, the children learnt more about caring for the elderly through story-telling and dramatisations. They shared what they love and things to do with their grandparents through drawings and making a card for them.
Secondly, we planned for the K1 children to visit the seniors at a Sparkle Care Centre. To prepare for the visit, we provide opportunities for the parents to participate in this project by donating food items or daily necessities to the seniors. Our parents have donated generously, which the seniors truly appreciate. Our children in the centre spent time creating face towel cupcakes with a card for the seniors as a token of appreciation.
On 14 September 2022, K1 children went over to Sparkle Care Centre @ Serangoon to spread joy by performing and conducting music & movement activities. The Sparkle Care Centre prepared a moon cake cookery lesson so that the children could interact with the seniors
As a surprise, the seniors prepared gifts for the children as well. Overall, the children had fun interacting with the seniors.
Then, the children will share their experiences and their favourite moments back in school.
