SSDB Launch Party: Doing Good Together

SSDB Launch Party: “Doing Good Together”

Khalsa Kindergarten launched SSDB on 24 April 2024. This year’s theme is “Doing Good Together.” The significance and the goals of this project is to bring joy, togetherness, prosperity, and health benefits to our community. It creates a hope for our future as we instill the spirit of unity for the new generation.

Teachers shared knowledge with the children about the theme and that they will be doing a project about, “Community Care.”

Khalsa Kindergarten Hosted “Doing Good Together” Community Involvement Events

Under the theme “Doing Good Together,” Khalsa Kindergarten hosted two significant community involvement events.

On Friday, 10 May 2024, Police officers from Rochor Neighbourhood Police visited the kindergarten. During curriculum hours, the officer delivered a talk and engaged with the children, providing valuable insights into the role and responsibilities of police officers. This event aimed to foster a sense of safety and trust in law enforcement among the children.

On Friday, 3 May 2024, Nurses from Kallang Polyclinic were invited to share insights about the “Healthcare World” with the children. The Nurses conducted hands-on activities designed to educate the children about health and wellness. This interactive session made healthcare concepts accessible and enjoyable for the young minds.

Both events were successful in educating and inspiring the children about the importance of community helpers, reinforcing the theme of “Doing Good Together” in their daily lives.

Learning Journey

Based on the theme we had planned our Learning Journey where the children learnt to show empathy towards our people, nature, and its creatures as well. The Nursery and Kindergarten 1 children went to the Imbiah Trail located in Sentosa. Kindergarten 2 went to Kid Stop in Science Centre.

Part-1

IMBIAH TRAIL

Nursery and Kindergarten 1 classes had their physical learning journey to explore nature at Imbiah Trail in Sentosa. Children used their senses to see, touch and observe the beauty of nature, listen to the sounds of the waterfall, birds chirping, insects’ characteristics etc. The children enjoyed the Imbiah trail as they expressed a sense of wonder and curiosity.

Children were excited and ready to enter and explore the Imbiah trail.

The most interesting part of the learning journey were the sight of insects such as the big spider on its web, dragonflies near the waterfall. Children were very curious and keen to collect different kinds and sizes of leaves and twigs that they saw along their journey. Children gained good knowledge about natural forms of life in its environment.

Facilitator was explaining empathy towards living things such as ants, insects, etc.

SCIENCE CENTRE

Our K2 Children went to the Science Centre for a learning journey. They discovered interesting facts about internal organs at the ‘Know Your Body’ section and understood the wonders of human body. Through these exhibits, the children were interested to know more about their own bodies and attain health tips that will help them stay healthy, mentally, and physically well. Looking at the human body, children focused their attention on the organs and their functions.

Children learnt about the organs and their functions.

During this learning journey children learnt to make their own source of light and learnt the difference between natural and man-made sources of light.
