On 29th April 2021, we had a Launch Party for our âStart Small Dream Bigâ Presidentâs Challenge Project. The theme for this year is âStay Connected, Make A Difference!â
We have decided to embark on the theme of âCaring For Animals - Responsible Pet Ownership.â We chose to collaborate with SPCA to educate the children and raise awareness on the importance of being a responsible pet owner. Due to the COVID-19 situation, SPCA has kindly provided us with various age-appropriate resources on animals.
During the launch party, children learnt about the needs of animals such as dogs, cats, hamsters and rabbits. Children showed awareness on the different ways to care for a pet.
The children learnt to make the animal origami of a cat, dog and a rabbit!
They also did a colouring activity that was provided by the SPCA.
Prior to the SSDB project, the children already had a class pet (hamster) and a small fish. They absolutely loved caring for the hamster and the fish!
Overall, the SSDB launch party was a success! The children are looking forward to the next phase of the project, which is to reach out and find meaningful ways to do good and maintain social connections with the community, despite the COVID-19 situation.
