Hawkers selling different ethnic food is one of the iconic features in Singapore.
The children showed interest in hawkers after reading the Chinese book on “Going to the hawker”.
Children then decided to go for a trip to the nearest hawker centre and was introduced to the different food that were sold there. They were also given the opportunity to purchase some food and drinks there as well as to return food trays back to the tray return station.
Following up with their recent trip to the hawker centre, the children had a food tasting session where they tasted and ate the different ethnic food sold at the hawker centre in school.
After having to learn so much about hawkers and ethnic food, children were asked to draw what they liked the most out of this learning experiences. As you can see below, the children each had their own preferences, thoughts and likes about the experiences.
