On 26th of July, in conjunction to Racial Harmony Week, the N1, N2 and K1 children went to Orange Valley Active Ageing Centre @Woodlands Peak. Visiting a nursing home gives valuable experience to our children and will definitely brighten the day of the elders.
We received warm welcome from the elders there upon our arrival. The event started off with mini performance from each level.
Our N1 children sang and danced to the song ‘Rasa Sayang’ and ‘Roll Over the Ocean, Roll Over the Sea (Community Song).
As it was a Racial Harmony celebration, our N1s performed a Malay and English song after which our N2s sang and danced to a Chinese and Malay song followed by our K1s who performed an Indian dance.
Our N2s performed the song 古诗《所见》 (gu shi suo jian)’ and ‘Chan Mali Chan’ after which the
K1s danced to the song ‘Saajanji Ghar Aaye’ and ‘Nagada Nagada’.
We then had a mass performance with all the children and invited the elders to clap and sing along to the song ‘It’s A Small World’. 🌍
Our event continued with the children distributing care packs that the K2 children had packed previously. They donned their SSDB hats and walked around the room to pass the care packs to the elders.
We also had a mingle session with the elders. The children shook hands, gave a high-five, hugged and talked to the elders. It was a touching moment 🩷
As it was time to go, the children waved goodbye to all the elders. The children developed a sense of pride knowing that they have made a difference in the elders’ life for that day. ☺️🥰
It was definitely a memorable day for all the 894D children! Well done kids 👏
