“Our Family, Our Community”, this year’s SSDB theme, helped to bring awareness and appreciation to our neighborhood’s community helpers, such as bus captains, supermarket employees, cleaners, and grass cutters. To express our gratitude, the older children painted a frame template and etched some figures with ‘thank you’ messages on etching paper.
At the same time, our younger children prepared appreciation cards, which they presented to the community helpers in the neighborhood.
Through this activity, the children learned to respect and show appreciation to our community helpers who never cease to do their jobs exceptionally well. With these simple acts of kindness, we could show them that they are important and their efforts are well appreciated.
As a result of this year’s SSDB theme, we were not only able to show gratitude towards our community helpers, but also nurture our children to be kind and appreciative of those around us.
