For this year’s SSDB project, PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Yuhua Blk 264 have also chosen to partner with National Library Board (NLB). Back in July, two volunteers from Volunteer Switchboard came down to our school to conduct a storytelling session for the children.
They read the book “I am a Little Big Volunteer Reducing Food Waste” to the children and shared about the 5 core virtues — integrity, compassion, courage, respect, and gratitude. The children were engaged and interested in the topic as they could relate it to their personal experiences. At the end of the storytelling session, the children took part in writing their own food wastage pledge.
For our collaboration with NLB, our preschool has also set up an exhibition on sustainability and upcycling at Jurong Regional Library. Our children brainstormed with their teachers to come up with some items that we can make using recycled materials. The exhibition was held from 1st August to 31st August 2024 at the Jurong Regional Library. We hope that through this activity, the children will be more environmentally conscious in the future and think twice before throwing something away.
