The project started off with sharing with the children about God’s creation. Children shared their responsibility in taking care of God’s creation.
The teachers continued the project by reading the story ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’ by Sarah Roberts. Children reflected on how human action of dumping trash into the sea is the cause of the suffering of sea creatures.
Children were surprised to know that plastic bags could be mistaken as jellyfishes. They were horrified that sea creatures would try to eat plastic bags and choke on them.
Teachers and children exchanged ideas on how to advocate for cleaner and safer sea for the animals. Therefore, the different classes came up with ideas of crafting sea creatures and the environment in a state of suffering. The K2s children also went out to Pasir Ris Beach to help with cleaning up the trash.
