This year, ECDA SSDB’s theme ‘Stay Connected, Make a Difference’, focuses on strengthening the society by maintaining social connections with the community and support the digital inclusion of vulnerable groups.
PCF Sparkletots, Preschool @ MacPherson BIk 108 continues our collaboration with National Library Board (NLB) as we embark on this project for children to use their talents and creativity in giving back to the community.
Children were involved in creating Kamishibai, a unique form of storytelling that was introduced in Japan. They worked together cooperatively in making the ‘stage’, crafting the story while ensuring that it is relevant to the theme, to illustrating and colouring the visuals as well as sharing the story through a video recording.
Their story, titled ‘Lizzy’s Best Friend‘, is an inspiration for everyone out there to not despair and persevere despite any setbacks faced and also highlights positive use of technology in aidint vulnerable groups. It also highlights the importance of diversity, inclusion and belonging.
This project has also provided them opportunities to develop in learning areas such as Language and Literacy, Aesthetics & Creativity, Motor Skills and Social Emotional.
This process has also deepened their understanding of people with disabilities and the importance of displaying kindness as they give back to the community.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with NLB in encouraging children to give back to the community.
We hope that you will enjoy the story, “Lizzy’s Best Friend”.
