Inline with our SSDB 2020 theme of Kindness and Appreciation, during the term break from 7-11 September 2020, our K1 and K2 children embarked on the Kindness and Appreciation Week. Our children reflected and made a pledge on how to show kindness and appreciation in class, at home and to the people around us.
We discussed about different ways to make someone happy through simple acts of kindness such as being polite, saying kind words, being respectful, helpful, giving encouragement, gifts or writing notes or letters to make someone feel appreciated and loved.
Our K2 children decided to write letters to their parents and our K1 children sent DIY postcards to grandparents to express their love and appreciation. The letters and postcards were sent through the postal services.
Our children also painted the ‘Thank You’ cards and gave the cards to someone who has helped them. The parents helped us to capture these acts of appreciation and shared the photos with us.
Indeed, kindness and appreciation can be expressed in many other ways even with many resctrictions put in place in our fight to overcome the COVID-19 virus.
