At PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Yew Tee Blk 690D, our community-focused initiative, ‘Sparkle of Joy,’ aims to foster a sense of compassion and kindness among our young learners. Through this project, we encourage our children to spread joy and happiness to others. In alignment with this goal, the children collectively chose to embark on a charitable endeavour. This initiative involved active participation from our parents, children, and community partners: the SG Kindness Movement and the President’s Challenge
Parent Workshop:
Our project was initially introduced through a collaborative parent-child workshop. During this session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the ‘Start Small, Dream Big’ movement and the active role their children could play in this charitable endeavor. Together, parents and children engaged in creative activities, producing handcrafted items that were subsequently offered for sale during the charity drive.
Witness the radiant smiles of our young learners as they proudly display their completed artwork. Observe the joyful interaction between parents and children as they engage in creative endeavors together. It’s a testament to the positive impact of our community-focused project, where learning and fun converge to make a meaningful difference in our society
Children’s Work:
Our pre-nursery and nursery students gained a deeper understanding of kindness through engaging video presentations. This introduction to the project inspired them to participate in creative art and craft activities. The handcrafted items produced by our young learners were subsequently offered for sale during the charity drive.
Our pre-nursery and nursery students expressed a sense of pride in their creative accomplishments, showcasing their handcrafted items with enthusiasm!
Our K1 and K2 students demonstrated a keen interest in understanding the purpose of a charity drive, posing questions such as, ‘How can the money help other people?’ After gaining insight into the individuals and community partners involved in the project, the children collaborated enthusiastically on creative endeavors. Their excitement to contribute to a worthwhile cause was evident as they worked together to complete their handcrafted items.
Our K2 students exhibited patience and understanding as they guided one another through the various craft activities. Their meticulous attention to detail ensured that their best work was showcased during the charity drive.
Charity Drive:
To attract a larger audience, the charity drive was held concurrently with the school carnival. The children’s artwork was prominently displayed, ensuring maximum visibility for all.
On the day of the charity drive, our K2 students eagerly assisted at the booth. Their confidence grew as they approached potential donors and encouraged them to purchase their artwork. Children from other levels also expressed pride in their creations, proudly showcasing their work to their parents.
Parenting Talk (Guest Speaker):
To culminate the school project, Miss Michelle Tay, Director of the SG Kindness Movement, delivered a thought-provoking parenting talk on cultivating compassion within the home. Her address underscored the importance of nurturing kindness in our young children, emphasising the transformative power of their small acts in shaping a more compassionate world
