Sow and Grow Bloomers @ YMCA Toa Payoh

The children created wonderful creations with the leaves and twigs they had gathered on their trip to Jacob Ballas.

Parents purchased their children’s artwork and, in return, donated items such as Milo, biscuits, toothpaste, and brushes. These donations will go to our beneficiaries - needy elderly residents in Lengkok Bahru who receive free lunches from the Saturday Movement every week. The items contributed by parents would then be passed on to these beneficiaries.

In the meantime, the children had a wonderful experience growing and harvesting mung bean sprouts. They took the harvested sprouts home, where their parents helped incorporate them into regular meals or simply cooked them, allowing the children to enjoy their homegrown produce.

Back at the center, the children helped sort the donated items and pack them into goody bags. Parents assisted by transporting these packed bags for distribution to the elderly beneficiaries. Children, accompanied by their families, then distributed the goody bags and helped serve the elderly. Additionally, the children performed the SSDB song “Step By Step” for the elderly beneficiaries, who clapped and cheered them on. Overall, it turned out to be a meaningful and fun day for all.

The Sow and Grow Bloomers project this year came to end alongside with our National Day celebrations on 8 August. Parents were invited and presented with certificates for the participation. Children also presented thank you cards to their parents for supporting them throughout the whole project.
