As part of our SSDB Project theme on giving back to the community, our children worked together to grow vegetables through their hard work and shared them with our community partner, TOUCH Community Services (TOUCH Active Ageing @ Yishun 436).
During the June Holiday, our children were introduced to hydroponics farming and embarked on their planting project at our community garden. They experienced planting radish in soil as well as hydroponic system. Through this planting project, our children demonstrated the value of teamwork as they cared for the vegetables together from preparing the soil, planting the seeds and taking turns to water them regularly.
Our children observed the growth of the vegetables they have grown together and were excited to share the fruits of their labour with elderly residents of TOUCH Community Services.
On 5th July 2023, our children visited TOUCH Active Ageing @ Yishun 436 where they presented the vegetables to the residents.
On 25th July 2023, our children had a DIY planting session with residents of TOUCH Active Ageing @ Yishun 436. They had a fun time interacting with the residents and sharing with them the steps to planting maple pea seeds and growing them.
As our SSDB Project 2023 comes to an end, our children were happy to give back to the community through their hard work. The project also strengthened their teamwork and the children demonstrated compassion by sharing with others what they have.
