Inspired by the rich resources from the “Singapore Kindness Movement “, we decided to launch “Start Small Dream Big” with the theme on kindness.
Teachers dramatized the MRT scenarios from the resource book.
Next we declared April as the “Kindness Month”. To encourage our little ones to be kind, teachers actively acknowledged and rewarded our pupils with smiley stickers for any act of kindness displayed.
During assembly, teachers dramatised scenarios from school and home. Pupils were invited to identify acts of kindness.
A practical way of showing kindness was our shoe donation drive. Our pupils learned that “Sharing is an Act of Kindness”.
We encouraged them to donate their gently-used shoes. They were discouraged from buying a pair of new shoes for the donation as our objective was for them to learn to part with their possession.
A total of 112 pairs of children’s shoes were collected.
We owed the success of the shoe donation project to our Parent Volunteers who played an active role in packing and delivering the shoes to benefit the less privilege in support of the Soles4Souls Shoe Donation drive.
