In line with our SSDB theme, “Make Everyday an Earth Day”, children created their own shadow puppet titled “ Save Our Kingdom”. They brainstorm and discussed about the storyline of the shadow puppet. Children chose their own characters while some of chose to become the audience.
Prior to the activity, children prepared the shadow puppet by cutting them according to their shaped outlines. They then stick the shadow puppet on an ice-cream stick. Children then decorated the corners of the corrugated board with recycled materials.
Basically, this shadow puppet focused on the topic of deforestation caused by humans and destroying the homes of the forest animals. Children have the opportunity to change their voices according to the characters in the shadow puppet.
Children also talked about animal food chain and how one source of food could drastically affect other animals causing the extinction of some animals.
