Our little philanthropists embarked on this year’s SSDB project on the theme “Our Family, Our Community”.
We started of with our Launch Party during Fathers’ Day where children created crafts and performed specially for Fathers’ Day.
We then linked back to how migrant workers, many of whom have their own family, sometimes feel sad that they far away from their own. We can only do so much, so we decided to show our appreciation and care towards them in our small creative ways.
We organised a charity bazaar specifically to collect funds to donate to the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC). We crafted tote bags, to bracelets, to making ice lollies, and many more. Parents also came forward to contribute.
Alas, we raised a total of $2069. On the 28th September, we dropped by MWC’s office to give the cheque.
It was a memorable project and the kids have surely learnt alot. Most importantly, they learn that only by giving can they receive more.
