Part 2 of our SSDB Project:
Adventure Maze
President’s Challenge 2018
Beneficiary: Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH)
On 7 July (Saturday), our 160 children and their families came together to participate in this meaningful fund-raising activity.
The children led their family members who were blindfolded through 9 stations of doing simple chores such as doing the laundry.
They had earlier pledged donations towards the cause and they had also written letters to individuals and companies to sponsor items such as tissue paper and mineral water for the event.
The children then packed these into the SSDB paper bags to be given to participants.
Both children and their families had a fun time participating in the event and parents shared their experiences on how it felt navigating through the maze without their power of sight.
Some found that they had to automatically rely on their other senses and some relied on their children for instructions. They also realized that we tend to point while giving instructions without thinking that the visually handicapped person is unable to see.
Here are some photos of the families during the maze.
We are looking forward to the next part of our SSDB Project: Sensorial Connections Part 3!
Stay tuned and we will announce how much we have collected in donations.
