The K1s have shown deep interest in Ocean Conservation after visiting the River Safari and were thrilled to begin a banner-creating initiative. The project not only highlights their artistic talents but also underscores their growing interest in protecting our planet’s marine environments.
We explored the wonders of the ocean through books and videos and learned about the importance of conservation. To express our newfound knowledge and passion, we collectively designed a banner by drawing and painting different ways we could participate in protecting Ocean Life.
We emphasized on the direct impact of waste reduction on marine animals and how plastic waste can harm sea turtles, dolphins and other marine creatures through ingestion and entanglement. This understanding has motivated us to take action and reduce waste in our daily lives.
We also celebrated Book Day where we shared a variety of ocean-related books and immersed ourselves in tales of colorful coral reefs, majestic whales and brave ocean explorers. Through these stories, we are further inspired and curious about the marine world.
We also dressed up in our favorite characters from the book! Some of our children went even further and designed their own costumes to spread awareness on the effects of pollution!
When we were done with our banner, we hung it up in our classroom for everyone to see. We shared our design with our parents and other children who visited our classroom and shared our thoughts on Ocean Conservation with them as well.
