Project Good Sam @ YMCA CDC Toa Payoh

This project was a collaboration between YMCA Child Development Centre Toa Payoh and Presbyterian Community Services (PCS).

Children learned about being kind to people in need through the story of The Good Samaritan. They embarked in this kindness project named “Project Good Sam” to raise the gift pack items for the elderly people at Dorcas Home Care Services.

The children diligently did a variety of crafts beginning with stone painting.

The N1 and N2 children did stone painting as well as making pencil holders using recycled materials.

Playgroup children participated in this project through craftwork as well.

The children brought their completed crafts home to sell to their parents. Instead of getting money, they “barter trade” with the gift pack items.

Parents were involved in this project by bringing the children to the supermarket to purchase the item/s that their children would like to exchange their crafts with. Each family contributed to the gift pack according to their child’s choice.

Parents and children gave generously.

Now it is time to pack….The children packed the items in recycled bags and inserted the cards they drew…

The gift packs were ready for delivery to Dorcas Home Care Services.

The children happily sent off the gift packs….

A parent volunteer Mrs Tong, helped us in the delivery of the gift packs to Dorcas Home Care Services. Thank you, Mrs Tong.

The children, parents and staff of YMCA CDC Toa Payoh was delighted to see the smile of elderly people @ Dorcas Home Care Services when they received their gift packs. The children were glad that they too can be a blessing to people in need like The Good Samaritan..
