Giving back to our community can be in many ways and one way is to create an opportunity for children to understand the needs of the community through the Start Small Dream Big Project (SSDB 2021). For this year, children from Jamiyah Kindergarten embarked on a project named GIFT-A-MEAL. The project focused on collaboration with Jamiyah Food Bank to organise a food donation drive.
The objective of the project was to inculcate the importance of sharing food in young minds and is to create awareness about the needy families in our community. Parents and families of Jamiyah Kindergarten actively participated in the project by contributing non-perishable food items. Our students lead the project by collecting the food items from their homes.
In light of the pandemic, we could not bring our students to Jamiyah Food Bank for distributing food rations to the beneficiaries. However, our students were involved in the process of the food donation drive by sorting the food items and preparing well wishes cards for the beneficiaries before sending them to Jamiyah Foodbank.
Thereon distributing food ration to eradicate the hunger of underprivileged families was carried out by the volunteers of Jamiyah Singapore.
