In line with our SSDB topic titled “A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way,” we invited some police officers to our school to talk about their roles and responsibilities in the community. The Nursery Two to Kindergarten Two children had previously discussed in class the importance of showing kindness to community helpers, such as police officers, who play a crucial role in protecting the community and ensuring that citizens obey the laws and follow the rules. During the visit, they were introduced to different types of police officers, including K9 units and traffic police.
The children had a great time exploring the various tools used by the police officers, such as the walkie-talkie, traffic wand, and more. They also learned important safety tips, including the dangers of strangers and the emergency hotline to call. At the end of the session, the children participated in a mini question-and-answer session, eagerly sharing their newfound knowledge with their peers.
To conclude the visit, one of our representatives from the Kindergarten One class presented the policemen with a small token of appreciation, a box of Ferrero Rocher, to thank them for taking the time to visit our school and educate the children about their jobs. The highlight of the visit was when the children had the opportunity to go inside the police car, which they had been eagerly waiting for. It was a memorable experience for them.
Overall, the visit not only educated the children about the important roles of police officers but also taught them the importance of showing kindness and appreciation to those who serve our community.
