Start Small Dream Big was initiated by ECDA to encourage preschool to create authentic platforms for children to innovate, problem-solve and tap on their unique strength to help others. Through SSDB, we hope to encourage our children to use their own resources and creativity to give back to society.
Our SSDB project for Y2019 is “Treasure Our Heritage”. We aim to inculcate the spirit of giving and also caring for our heritage in our children.
Our SSDB project was launched in May 2019 during our Mother’s Day Celebration. We had a fruitful time having breakfast with parents and at the same time sharing and encouraging them to support children’s effort in giving back to the community.
SSDB-Busy Little Hands, Clean and Green Singapore!
To kick start our project “Treasure our Heritage”, our children went on a litter picking activity at East Coast Park on 3 May 2019. We encouraged acts of civic-mindedness by keeping public spaces clean and showing kindness and consideration for others using the shared space.
The activity aims to encourage children to take action and reaffirm their commitment to keep Singapore clean. We amplified the value of taking personal responsibility to keep the surroundings clean through this activity.
We want our children to understand that litter picking is not a one day effort but rather a life time commitment so that Singapore can truly call itself a clean city and continue to be renowned globally for its greenery and cleanliness.
