Many people have no idea where the items they recycle go or what happens after their items are out into the recycling bin. Our curious children asked the same question when they visited the recycle bin and saw the recycle truck collecting items from recycle bin. Our SSDB project ‘Never Refuse to Reuse” gave them a chance to our children to find out the answer. From our project ‘Make papers from recycle papers’, our children understood what happened to the recycled papers after we recycle them.
We decided to make papers using recycling papers in March. We started our project with safety and precautions in this COVID-19 situation.
First children collected recycled papers from office rooms and some newspapers. They tore them into smaller pieces.
They soaked the papers in water for one day.
Children used mortar and pestle to make pulp.
Using the sieve, they drained the pulp and dried it with a towel.
Children used the roller to flatten the paper
They added food colouring to the pulp to make colour papers
They dried the papers on the newspapers
Our little kids were surprised to see their products. They will use their own made papers for their artworks.
