On 22nd April, we kickstart our SSDB journey with a launch party.
During the launch party, the children kept the crowd engaged with a mass workout, a song and dance with “Kindness” in mind. The song choices for the event were related to ‘Kindness’, titled ‘Kindness is a muscle’ and ‘I am kind to the Earth’.
Kindness in the environment is the theme of our project. Through our launch party, we aim to raise awareness about the Kindness Act to create life-long Learners who believe in giving back to the society, following the school’s core values of Respect and Responsibility.
The main highlight of the launch party was the “reforming plastic bottles” segment. Parents, teachers and children donated 120 plastic bottles, out of which 88 bottles were put to good use. We decorated the SSDB letters acronym on the ground using those bottles before ending off with a big shout-out: “No one can do anything, but everyone can do something!”
Littering is a big problem identified by our children and teachers, so we pledged to be kind, respectful and responsible in keeping our homes, school and community clean and litter-free.
After the party, we picked up all the empty bottles and put them to good use because our party coincides with Earth Day. These plastic bottles will be used by teachers and children for craftwork, gardening, construction and many others.
In the days to come, we will be involved in different community involvement programs. Do stay tuned for our next story!
