Our Centre’s objective for this year’s Start Small Dream Big which is based on the theme ‘Our Family, Our Community’. Our wish for our children to be able to show appreciation and care for family and the community. We have a tie-up with the Singapore Kindness Movement and a collaboration with the elderly residents at All Saints Home (Yishun) in line with the inter-generational aspect for the SSDB project, we would like to encourage our children to show care and appreciation for seniors in their family as well as in the community. This is in consistent with SSDB values namely kindness, compassion, empathy and inclusiveness.
We strongly encourage children to spare a thought for the people around them and show graciousness through kind acts. The SSDB resources provided by SKM were put to good use by children from N2 to K2 levels to share the importance of kindness and show appreciation and love to their family members – parents and grandparents.
Our Centre’s collaboration with All Saint Home (Yishun) in August signals the end of our SSDB journey for 2022. The children celebrated National Day virtually with the elderly residents singing National Day songs and dance performances. They engaged the residents whom they fondly addressed as grandpa and grandma with fun interactive games and brought joy to everyone.
