The children had an amazing SSDB journey. They were involved in a variety of activities and were informed about the impacts/consequences faced by the Earth. As such, they were even more keen and felt that they hold a responsibility to save the Earth by practising the 3Rs. We had a great start by introducing the 3Rs to the children and encouraging them to share the views and opinions of how they can help save the Earth and what are the different causes that is affecting the Earth. The children pen down their thoughts as a group and even suggested interesting activities to be involved in such as sorting waste out to see what can be recycled, reminding each other to recycle materials such as plastic bags, water bottles, toilet rolls etc and placing recycled items into the blue bins instead of throwing them away. They were also engaged in other activities together with their parents by making costumes using recycled materials. As the K2 children were learning about ’Continents’, the teacher tapped on the opportunity by encouraging them to make a traditional costume of any country using recycled materials such as garbage bag, paper bag, newspaper etc. Last but not least, the children also created interesting artwork using recycled materials such as plastic bottle and toilet rolls that were put up for sale during our school event as we incorporated that as part of SSDB which the proceedings were donated to World Vision. We had a wonderful journey and it was great to see the children being involved and taking the initiative to care for the world.
