K1 children at M.Y World Bidadari Alkaff Vista in partnership with Preschool Market participated in the SSDB program which focuses on the Sustainability project. As the children learnt about the effects of textile waste in the environment such as water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, they thought of a way on how they can help lessen the said problems. The children brought their old clothes to school and made lanyards, phone straps and key chains. As making 1 t-shirt uses 2.7 litres of water which is enough drinking water of a person per year. The children were able to upcycle 15 shirts which saves up 40500 litres of water. Then, they raise funds and sold their products to parents during the Sustainability Fair in school. Proceeds of the event were donated to the unpreviledged people in the community. They also went to visit the elderly in the Day Care Centre and blessed them with gifts (lanyards for their ID’s)
