The children participated in learning activities that helped them to develop an awareness of the importance of showing care and respect for people from different backgrounds, cultures and settings.
Firstly, the children were introduced to the different cleaners that help to keep Singapore clean e.g., hawker centre cleaners, park cleaners, etc. They learnt that the park cleaners help to keep Singapore’s parks clean by picking up rubbish and sorting them into recycling bins such as Bloobin.
The children then participated in a recycling activity and had to sort the items provided into the different recycling bins labelled ‘metal’, ‘plastic’ and ‘paper’.
Through this activity, the children developed an awareness of how their behaviors and actions might affect their immediate environment and the world they live in. The children learnt that they need to show responsibility, care and respect to the things and people in their environment.
