In collaboration with Families For Life, we’ve embarked on an enriching activity: “Don’t Just Take, Learn to Give”.
Our key objectives are:
-
To help children understand that love involves both receiving and giving
-
To create opportunities for children to demonstrate acts of love
Building on our previous exploration of love languages, we revisited the book “Happy Birthday, Dawn”. This time, we focused on identifying the various acts of love displayed by Dawn and her family members.
To reinforce this concept, we conducted an engaging activity:
-
Some children received two stickers each
-
Others received one or none
-
When those without stickers asked for more, we revealed we had no more to give
What happened next was heartwarming:
-
Children with stickers spontaneously began sharing with those who had none
-
Some even gave away all their stickers, inspired by Dawn’s selfless act of giving her two swans to her siblings
This activity beautifully illustrated our lesson’s core message: love is about giving, not just taking. It was touching to see how quickly the children grasped this concept, demonstrating their innate capacity for empathy and generosity.
Through this experience, we hope to have instilled in our young learners the importance of giving and the joy it can bring, both to themselves and others. This lesson serves as a foundation for nurturing kind, compassionate individuals who understand the true essence of love.
