Week 1-4
The children of Nursery 1 of Learning Vision@NUHS has embarked on the project Marine Animals awareness and conservation. To better understand the needs of the marine animals, they have to first be aware of the different animals that live in the ocean. They were introduced to the different animals and did various activities to further familiarize with them, such as scooped them out of the water, matched the animals, made a craft as to what is their favourite water animal and did animal shaped cookies.Week 5
As part of our pre-excursion activity to SEA Aquarium (Mai’s Underwater Journey), the N1 children made their version of an aquarium in a bottle. They put in shells, rocks and sea weeds/plants in the bottle, pour in water carefully and then place in the water animal capsule (turns into sea animal when soaked in water). They also shared about the water animals that they wish to see in SEA Aquarium and what are the things that they want to learn from them.

Week 6
All the children were excited to join in Mai’s Underwater Journey in SEA Aquarium. They explored the different marine animals in their habitat. They learnt about sharks and fishes living together, the difference between Manta rays and Stingrays, explored and touch a sea star and met lots of sea jellies. They also learnt about coral reef which is a home to most fishes and other marine animals. It also provides protection and shelter to them.
The children also had a chance to meet and greet the SEA Aquarium’s charismatic dolphins together with their Marine Mammal Specialist. They have learnt about how strong the dolphins’ tails are, how many teeth they have, what they eat, how fast they swim and enjoyed their tricks!
Week 7-8
The further explore and learn about the home of the marine animals, two of their habitats were introduced to the children. They learnt about the “coral reef” and the “seagrassess” habitats. This is to emphasize that these habitats are essential to the marine animals’ life as it is their home, it is where they find their food, it provides shelter and protection to them.
Furthermore, children made a 3D model of each habitat as a reminder of the importance of each to the animals.
