MapleBear Woodlands: Loving  hearts Connections

As part of our service learning this year, MapleBear Woodlands participated in the ‘Start Small Dream Big’ President’s Challenge 2022.

The title of our project was ‘Loving Hearts Connections’. For this project, we held a virtual interactive event on 17 June 2022 with elderly from Clementi’s Lions Befrienders centre. They put up performances in both English and Chinese language. In addition, the children interacted with the elderly by asking relevant questions and playing games like charades.

Through this project, we aimed to further inculcate the values of respect, caring and sharing in our pupils while we showed our appreciation to the elderly for their contributions. To make the event more meaningful and successful, we sought parents’ support by way of contributions to the project. Some of the items donated were Towel, body wash, shampoo, 3-in-1 coffee / milo, milk powder, biscuits without cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, body ache plasters, adult diapers etc.

The children from Nursery, JK and SK helped in the packing of donations for the elderly.

Aside from that, the children from Nursery class made soap bars, JK class decorated picture frames and SK class upcycled jam jars to give as presents to the elderly.

The children were very enthusiastic throughout the whole process and enjoyed every bit of it!
