Together with Earth Day, we had our Launch Party on 22 April. They made use of plastic bags to recreate as friendship bands.
Following that we introduced sustainability through environment events such as World Water Day and Earth Hour and Earth Day.
The children conducted research on sustainability and understood the importance of protecting the Earth.
They decided to implement a simple eco-conscious habit in the class and embarked on their Farm-to-Table activity as shown in the pictures attached.
We had a talk by NParks - Marvellous Trees. The children learnt about various trees in Singapore. They explored the diverse use of trees and ways to preserve and protect them.
Next, the children went on an outdoor learning journey to Bollywood Farms where they discovered more about the Farm-to-Table approach.
We involved our parents to make DIY Upcycled Planters using recyclable plastics together with their children back at home. The children shared their creations and these planters were used for growing their chosen produce.
The children moved on to propagate their plant cuttings from their Bollywood Farm outing and our own centre kitchen scraps.
The children planted their produce in their Take Home Activity planters when they observed the plants have started to grow their roots.
Finally, we harvested the plants and added into our meal in the centre. The children were amazed with the taste and appreciated the vegetables more as they were grown and taken care by themselves.
