During the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone was worried for their own safety and hoped to not be infected by the virus. While everyone is able to stay at home with their loved ones, our foreign workers who worked at the construction site can only stay at their dormitory away from their family.
It was tough for them as most of them got infected by the virus and faced uncertainties about their health. They were also quarantined at their dormitory and were not allowed to go out at all times.
While everyone is showing their gratitude towards the frontline workers in the healthcare sector, our K1 and K2 children decided to show their love and appreciation towards the foreign workers who are underappreciated. Because of their contributions, we are able to see the beauty of high rise buildings as well as enjoying the transport accessibility that we have in Singapore.
The K1 and K2 children discussed with their teachers on what they wish to give to these workers and decided to prepare a Care Pack for them. We worked in partnership with our parents by getting them to send in apples, packet drinks and anti-bacterial wet wipes. All these items are packed together with the hand made hand sanitizers by the children in the class.
As the culminating event of our SSDB project, the children did activities that allowed them to step in the shoes of these workers such as wearing safety helmets and safety vests as well as building towers using marshmallows and toothpicks.
On behalf of Star Learners @ North East Pte Ltd, we would like to show our gratitude to the workers at CS Construction & Geotechnic Pte Ltd for giving us this opportunity to show our love and appreciation for their important contributions to Singapore. Stay Safe and Stay Healthy!
