Little Footprints Preschool Serangoon Central’s Sustainability Adventure at City Sprouts

Our children had an exciting opportunity to visit City Sprouts, where they learned firsthand about sustainability and the importance of going green. The Farm Adventure Tour introduced them to the wonders of nature and how we can work with the environment to create a more sustainable world. They explored a range of sustainable practices, from observing quails, ducks, and chickens. To their delight, the children were even able to hold and carry the chickens, feeling more connected to the animals they had just learned about.Following the tour, the children eagerly participated in a hands-on Composting Workshop, where they learned to create their very own compost bins. Each child carefully layered their greens and browns into a 1.5L plastic bottle to start their own compost pile.

The workshop was not only a fun activity but also an important lesson in sustainability. The children learned how composting helps reduce waste, keeps organic matter out of landfills, and nourishes the earth. By making their own mini compost bins to take home, they now have a hands-on way to continue practicing going green, using their compost in home gardens or potted plants to complete the recycling loop.

The visit to City Sprouts was filled with engaging activities and new experiences, leaving the children excited to continue exploring sustainability and applying what they learned to their everyday lives. This enriching adventure encouraged them to become more responsible and mindful of their impact on the environment.
