In a sustainability project, the K2 children embarked on an exciting journey to learn how to grow peppermint plants and understand the plant life cycle. The project began with the children learning about the peppermint plant—how to identify it, nurture it, and grow it from cuttings. They eagerly observed the teacher demonstrating the process, and soon after, they engaged in their first step: planting the mint.
In the early stages, the children carefully cut peppermint stems and planted them in soil. They enjoyed tending to their plants, watering them regularly, and watching them grow. This hands-on experience gave them a better understanding of how plants need water, sunlight, and care to thrive.
As the weeks passed, the children’s plants flourished, and they could finally harvest their mint leaves. To celebrate their efforts, they participated in making a refreshing peppermint drink. The children excitedly gathered the mint leaves they had grown, and with the help of their teacher, they learned how to prepare a peppermint tea.
The process of making the drink was a rewarding moment for the children. They followed the steps—adding mint leaves to a glass, pouring hot water, and waiting as the mint infused the water. Finally, they enjoyed the fruits of their labor by sipping the freshly made peppermint tea.
Through this project, the children not only learned valuable gardening skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for nature, sustainability, and teamwork. The celebration with the peppermint drink marked a special conclusion to their successful project, leaving them proud and excited about their newfound knowledge.
