As part of our theme ‘Go Green’- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, the children were taught the importance of reducing food wastage and reusing food to make healthy snacks. A letter was sent to K2 parents to contribute fruits and vegetables for their cookery lesson. Children brought a variety of fruits such as strawberries, apples, grapes, cherry tomatoes and kiwis.
They learned that food wastage not only causes unnecessary expenditure on food bill but also negative effects to the environment. In addition to that, the children learned that wasted food can mean more landfill and wastage in their daily resources, water, harmful emissions as well as energy. Thus, reducing their food waste is an important and practical way they can help the environment to sustain its longevity.
While inculcating good habits of eating healthy, the K2s enjoyed themselves making their very own fruit kebab.
Well done K2 Light!
