The children were interested in the topic ablout wild animals and they decided to use them as the focus for their Start Small Dream Big project. While learning about different animals, the team discussed and wanted to introduce importance of animals and their habitat conservation using recyclables. Reusing materials and recycling is also an important topic that we wanted our children to know, learn about and to adapt to.
It started by allowing the children to choose two endangered animals from the list. We shared information and learned more about these animals and their habitats. With cardboard, plastic containers, other recyclables and various art mediums. The children created animals and their habitations. We also got our students’ parents involved by helping them do crafts at home using recyclables to add on to our exhibits. At the end of the project, we invited our students’ parents to join us for a showcase of the children’s work.
