We gracefully concluded our SSDB (Start Small Drram Big) project centered on cultivating kindness by fostering a culture of mutual assistance at the center. The K2 children exhibited profound empathy as they collaboratively engaged in helping our beloved aunty with her daily cleaning tasks. Their kindness and compassion shone through as they proactively offered to aid her in various ways, such as removing the containers/baskets as she cleaned the shelves and preemptively cleared the tables. Before the start of the project, the children came forward with heartfelt discussions about the significance of extending help to others. Their genuine and considerate engagement benefitted them significantly, emphasizing the great value of one’s life with intention and kindness.
The K1 children, however, showed amazing teamwork as they took it upon themselves to ensure their classroom was spotless, well-organized and germ-free. They demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility and consideration for others. With this aspiration, the children develop an empathetic nature, prioritizing the needs of others above their own without hesitation.
The N2 children participated in washing stained aprons, demonstrating care and dedication in removing tough stains to make aprons useable for others. Despite the challenging paint stains, their unwavering commitment in ensuring the aprons are spotless and ready to use is truly commendable.
Let us take a moment to appreciate the young children who showed remarkable thoughtfulness by assisting and supporting each other. They wholeheartedly helped the younger ones with tasks such as tidying up, helping them get around and ensuring the toys were kept in order. It was truly inspiring to see how, regardless of their young age, they are always ready to help and assist others.
This project effectively instilled in children the importance of demonstrating kindness and consideration towards others. It emphasized the timeless truth that “Kindness costs nothing But means everything.”
